Steady as she goes

Hi Folks. It has been a couple of weeks since our last post, but better late than never! The Journeyman is now open for lunch and dinner 7 days, but please be patient as we are still getting used to things. We are limiting the bookings at present whilst we put things in place and await our liquor license! Hopefully this will come through soon. Things have been good and it has been great to see our regulars back with us, some visiting two or three times since opening. We value all of our customers and we thank you for your kind words and support since we opened. Thats about it for now, so until next time.

Ciao for now.

Moving fast

Well folks, more headway has been made. The painting is almost complete and kitchen fitout has commenced. We still have a slight snag with gas supply, but that is in the process of being worked out thanks to 'Nozza' the plumber - what a legend! All of our tradesman have been brilliant and have done an amazing job overcoming many issues along the way. We are still probably a good couple of weeks off opening at present as Tim wants to be sure he is used to his new kitchen. He has some great things planned for the menus across the board. We will also have a bar menu now that we have a wonderful bar, so that should be fun. I will post some new piccies very soon, so stay tuned!

The pointy end of business

Hello folks,

Apologies for not updating recently, but in all honesty there hasn't been that much to tell. All that has now changed and we are now heading into the home straight! Where we are at right now is that the tilers are in, the wall structure is almost finished and we have undercoated the top half of the dining room. We are hoping to have the kitchen installed by the end of next week so that Tim can start getting used to it. As for an opening date, we are hopeful that we are only about two weeks away, but I will be updating the blog regularly from now on the keep you all informed as it is still a bit of a moving target.

Until next time, ciao for now.

Journeyman wins yet another Wine List Award

On Monday, the Journeyman's already multi-award winning wine list added another one to its wall. This time it won the Restaurant & Catering 'Best NSW Wine List' gong. This means we have been judged to have the best wine list outside of Sydney in the whole of NSW. This success follows on from our wins in the the 'Best South Coast' wine list & "Best regional South Coast' wine list awards catagories.
Needless to say we are delighted with this result. This brings the wine list awards to a grand total of four this year. We were also awarded two glasses out of a possible three in the prestigious 'Fine Wine Partners Australian Wine List of the year' (you might have seen us mentioned in 'Gourmet Wine Traveller'). I think we are going to need a bigger wall!
Ciao for now.

Away we go!

Well, we finally have the paper work sorted and the builders are starting in the dining room on Saturday. Things will hopefully start to motor along now, so we are looking at around mid-October.

At present, the air-conditioning is being installed, upholstering is underway on the seating and kitchen fittings are being made. I will have some photos and another update for you to look at next week, so stay tuned!

Ciao

The moving of the restaurant to Bowral has been an interesting experience so far. There have been hold ups, but the builder is ready to go, the decor, kitchen equipment, etc has all been sorted out and we should start work on the dining room next week.

We have already knocked through a couple of walls (much to the delight of Abe & Ethan, our apprentices - just look at the photos) and the place is gutted ready for the fit-out. We have also been having fun deciding on colour schemes and building stuff!

Outside of this, we have not been lazing around doing nothing. Tim has been busy deciding on kitchen design and equipment, as well as coming up with lots of menu ideas. At the new place we will also have a bar menu in addition to our usual A-La-Carte, 'lunchbites' and degustation menus.

I, on the otherhand, have been busy scouring Australia and the world for new wines for you. I aim to offer more diversity and a better global experience of the wine world (It's a dirty job, but I'm up for it). I have already gathered some new wines from NSW & the ACT and will be bringing on wines from Spain and Greece along with some more Italian delights.

We are anticipating that we will be open sometime in October, so watch this space to be the first to know.

Ciao - Deb
